The Power of a Smile

My father finally made the trek to Portland to visit from the depths of the upper peninsula of Michigan. While most of his visit revolved around eating, we ventured out to the coast city of Newport for a long weekend. The highlight of the weekend was an ocean chartered fishing excursion. We ended up catching our limit on everything and that brought a smile to our face.

Along the way I was able to capture a lot more of those precious smiles - even on the face of a sun bathing sea lion. I keep this picture at arm’s length as it has really reminded me of the power of a smile.
